In this episode, I’m going to show you how to double in positions where contact between the two sides has been broken. To handle these positions in live tournaments or cash games, you need to know how to do an accurate pip count, so we’ll start with some techniques for counting the position accurately. After that, I’ll talk about the crucial 8-9-12 rule, and show you how this simple rule can let you handle the cube properly in almost all races and many bearoff positions. We’ll finish by looking at some short bearoff positions and developing a few ideas for handling the cube when there are just a couple of rolls left to go.
