Playing a Holding Game: In this episode, well look at how to play a Holding Game. Holding games are very important because theyre the most common type of game youll see as you play backgammon. In a holding game, one side makes an advanced anchor in his opponents board, while the other side escapes his back men and tries to come home. The side with an anchor hopes to win by hitting a shot late in the game, or by catching up and eventually winning the race. His opponent just tries to bring his racing lead home without any accidents. Well look at the various strategies that both sides employ, and learn how to handle these games successfully.
