A Case Against Slow-Playing: Part II

Drag the Bar Coach

Published on Mar 26, 13

In this series I use my own hand histories to make a case against slow-playing big hands in order to maximize value verses weaker opponents. Not only does slow-playing often lead to letting an opponent "get there," but it can also cause you to miss out on massive value that you just would not get if you let more cards come down. I take into account components such as stack size, position, board texture, and my opponent's propensity to get it in early, focusing on big 3-bets and check raises to build big pots while I have the most equity.
