Recently I've made some progress with my mental game and I thought I'd share it
Some months ago (many) I had a session with Jared through DTB as I won a competition. I had some useful insights from that but still didn't really do the real work I needed away from the session and games to fix my serious mental game leaks. I also received a copy of Jareds book. I read alot of it at the time. I have also made slides recently from it. However yesterday afternoon I took it out with me re-read the first core chapters and did the excercises in the tilt that was relevent to me.
Now I have a sheet with my logic in it and the strategy map for what to do when I feel myself tilting. I also have made a process sheet for my overal poker (in terms of prep/results/eval/analysis). I've set goals short and long and am using these.
Over the past few days I've played 6k hands and my head is the best it's ever been. I'm getting into spots that would usually tilt me bad and am feeling a bit uncomfortable then containing it using the strategies. It's really a different game, I'm moving away from being result orientated - I've filtered hem to bb's only so I can see shape of graph over time and not concern with $.
I think I've finally turned the corner, but as one of my tilts was desperation tilt - I'm not going to get complacent or take my foot of the gas! It's a long journey. But finally I'm off on the right track!![]()
