Im looking for a chair to buy. My upper back usually hurts a lot while sitting on a normal chair. Have you guys had experience with these kneeling chairs? I used one for a week at a friends house and they seem pretty cool. Im just wondering whether theyre not too "low" for normal desk usage?

Have not tried the Kneeling chair. I could see hoe the kneeling chair might help. I had an issue with my upper back and changed the vertical height of my LCD's so that I would have to keep my back straight and my chin level. That worked well for me. I could see this being an effective tool.

Hey Gore
Do you do any stretching or exercise specifically for the discomfort? A new chair will help but its rare that this will issue will vanish by rearranging how we sit.
A specific stretching and strength building routine can make a huge difference with very little time investment.

yeah of course. I go to gym 5x a week + stretch on a regular basis. The problem is that after the move I have a very very bad chair here. Its extremely uncomfortable and no amount of stretching will correct that. An ergonomic chair should usually help though if you have slight back problems. Its obviously not a miracle solution, but Im pretty sure if its a well designed chair it can make a lot of a difference.

I use a chair very similar to that ergo chair and have found this to be the best chair I've ever owned. Can play for hours without back pain. It also might help your back to take a break every 1.5-2 hours and streatch a little, helps get the blood flowing.

Some of my clients have really nice office chairs which I've used when working with them. So I wanted something nice at home too. My last chair was the most expensive one from Ikea, which I think was a very good chair for its price, and durable since I often slouch :).
Since I'm quite cheap and good chairs are horribly expensive I decided to buy one from a used office furniture store, they sell quality stuff for less than half the price what the new ones cost. Well the chairs which were in a good condition still cost a couple hundred, so I looked at a local online auction site and was able to buy a Kinnarps 8000 synchron chair for €50 + shipping.
Mine is not quite as good looking as the one in the pic, mine is blue with some pastel colored thingies and without those leather looking things. Anyway I really love the chair and got it in a very good condition (those things are built to last). Guess I paid about 5-10% of what a new one would cost.

I got the chair in my first post. Assembled it today. probably decent for the price I paid although the headrest is quite useless since its too far back and my head never goes that far unless I bend backwards which I usually dont while playing :p
